Allergies and good advice(pt. 3)

The next section in the book is Q. and A.  I probably will not be writing down the Q part, but, just summarizing the A.

Most people associate food allergy with acute reactions such  as itching, hives, headache, intestinal upset. These reactions do not represent the majority of food  allergies. The most common forms are disorders due to the cumulative effects of frequently eaten foods.

Food allergy is common because we eat every day.  Effects from a single meal can last 3 days or longer. We eat three meals a day. In a year we consume over 1,000 meals. This unending exposure is increased by snacks, treats shared at school, coffee breaks ...

If you eat a food two or three times a week, there is never a time when your body is free from it. When it accumulates to a level that exceeds your tolerance, the result is a continuing and cascading series of allergic reactions. Since one starts before the other stops, this results in chronic illness. You may be sick from this, but, never realize that it is food allergy causing the chronic illness.

...............................................

Remember that, now, in many places,it's more likely people are eating 5-8 meals per day, plus snacks, etc.  So, that makes the cumulative effect worse.

Also, "because we eat every day" is true. Which is to say, when I do intermittent fasting, I digest food better. But, when I do it where there is an extended (24 hour or more) period between some meals, I actually have better tolerance to foods that I should be avoiding, but, sometimes, fail to not eat.

Food allergies are often responsible for: cold sores, inflamed gums, ulcers, indigestion, gallbladder attacks, colitis, gas, arthritis, headaches, weakness, fatigue, palpitations, severe itching, "growing pains", bed wetting, hyperactivity. The ears, eyes, nose, throat, bronchial tubes and lungs can be affected. Allergic reactions can affect the functions of any organ or system and cause a wide variety of physical disorders.

The circulatory system transports digested foods to all systems and organs of the body. including the brain which has the richest blood supply of any organ. Brain reactions may cause nervousness, restlessness, irritability, unprovoked anger, dizzy spells, lightheadedness, withdrawal, inability to concentrate, poor memory, learning disabilities, mood swings, psychotic behavior, and schizophrenia.

If your doctor does not have a working knowledge of food allergy. he cannot possibly diagnose your illness correctly. He may tell you "It's all in your head.", prescribe you an antidepressant or refer you to a psychiatrist.

The most frequently eaten foods  (so, most likely to cause allergic reaction) are: milk (children), coffee (adults), wheat (all ages), Other major food offenders, without age discretion are: corn, oats, rice, rye, cane sugar, beef, egg, chicken, tuna, pork, flounder, apple, banana, lettuce, tomato, potato, onion, string beans, soy, peanut, tea, chocolate, black pepper, paprika and mustard.

------------------------------------------------
Do not freak out. This is not a "What can I eat, then!" moment. Honestly! The point of this book is to help sort out what YOU are/are not allergic to and maybe even help you get over/control the allergies you do have.

...............................................................

Many doctors advise the removal of foods from a diet because they are seen as most likely to cause allergic reaction, without proof that these foods are the culprits. Which can leave the (other) food offenders in the diet.

Food allergies can be as addictive as drugs. When an addictive food is eaten during a withdrawal reaction, symptoms decrease in intensity or clear up entirely.
Reexposure to the food then makes the withdrawal symptoms return, with the patient having to start over. Which makes it more likely that they will not cease eating the food.

The simplest method of testing yourself for food allergy is to avoid the most common offending foods (listed above) and see how you feel. Make a list of the foods you  eat infrequently (about once every 5 days) and try eating them, instead.

.................................
Obviously, if it is something you never eat or eat even less often, so much the better. And, if it is something you eat at least two or three times a week, put it on the list to avoid, even if it is not on the list of common allergic foods.
.....................................

DO NOT eat any foods that you love, crave, have eaten on binges, make you feel more alert or energetic, or, which give you a sense of well-being. These responses are all signs of food addiction

A more specific method of testing is the Rotary Diet.

..................................................
The Rotary Diet is what we are here for. Oh yes, it is!

..................................................

In time you will probably be able to eat 50-70 % of foods you are unable to eat now. This reversible type of allergic reaction happens because we eat a food too often. If we eliminate them for one to six months, to give our body a rest, there is an excellent chance that our tolerance to such foods will be restored. The more severe your reaction the longer your rest period should be.

Reintroduce these foods one at a time, eating the same food only once per week. At the same time as you are resting and testing the foods you are definitely or suspected of being allergic to, you can prevent further allergies from developing by not eating any foods more than once every four to five days.

Some food allergies are fixed (permanent). They will cause a reaction even if removed from the diet for years.

Also, minimize your biological stress by: avoiding chemicals and fumes as much as possible, eating natural foods, drinking pure water, and focusing on whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Experiencing one allergen can make you have a worse reaction to another allergen, causing more stress than our bodies can tolerate. The combined effects of chemicals and foods can cause similar  problems. Symptoms from food may appear upon, or be aggravated by, exposure to cigarette smoke, permanent markers, paint, hair products, insect sprays, furniture polish, mothballs, etc. Alcohol can aggravate food allergy because it hastens the rate of absorption.

...............................................................................................

I think it's real important to know this information. I wish I had known it much sooner. One of the most important things, in my opinion, is in the previous post, where it is emphasized that the most dangerous allergies are the ones medical doctors discount as not even being an allergy.

I have been smirked at by more than one doctor,  who asked, "Don't you mean intolerance?" and/or "Is it really an allergy? Did you get hives and need an Epi pen?"  Or, whom made some similar smurgling display of lack of knowledge and ethics.

Next up is fasting, because, that is where it comes in the book. And,because, I am doing it right now, and, I like it.

Have a lovely day!
